Current Projects

  • Employee Benefits
    • Develop new XSD and JSON specification to manage current industry needs, including global usage and the US Affordable Care Act.
  • Employee Wellness
    • Develop a standard for the exchange of information between systems involved in the management of corporate wellness programs.  Such systems include, but are not limited to the benefits administration system, the core HR system, the payroll system or incentive payment system, activity tracking system, and benefits provider system. The scope of work for the first version of the standard is the communication between an activity tracking system and a corporate wellness program. An example would be communicating steps or active time from wearable tracking devices to the corporate wellness program. The standard will not include communication of protected health information, such as blood pressure or heart rate, subject to HIPAA compliance standards.

Existing Specifications

  • US Enrollment – supports “tier-based” coverage (Medical, Dental, Vision), rate based coverage, and flexible spending accounts.
  • Savings Plan Enrollment – supports the communication of enrollment and election information for savings and defined contribution plans, such a 401(k) plans within the U.S. market.
  • Indicative Data – describes the relationship between employer and employee relevant to provisioning benefit management systems .

Other Projects to Consider

  • Revisit existing specification to determine additional use cases for current industry needs.
  • Enhance deliverables to ease implementation and increase interoperability.
