Research from Credential Engine maps the landscape of all types of credentials, revealing that there are over 738,000 credentials offered in the U.S. across secondary, postsecondary, and non-academic providers. How do employers, educators, and learner/workers know what's what? Despite increased attention on the need for education and training as a foundation for social and economic security, as well as a nationwide expansion in education and training opportunities, there is still far too little data about credentials and their various characteristics and potential returns. On Aug. 27, Deb Everhart of Credential Engine led a discussion about the need for structured data about credentials.
